And I'm trying to put the second hard drive (jumpered as a slave) with the DVD. So Primary slave is vacant. I tried putting it on the primary slave but its Chances are though, and if I'm reading this correctly you have 2 DVD Roms? Usually 2 Roms together may give trouble when doing disk to disk copying though.

Assuming this sees the CD as D (likely) give: COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\ COPY D:\i386\ntdetect C:\ (a file that may also be missing) then rebuild the boot for a normal c drive boot? any other ideas..there is nothing special I am running just two hds (c+d) and cdr-w and dvd rw any help would be appreciated thanks.

Just booting Bart PE cannot do any harm to whatever, since only running CD or DVD. Have used it many times, never had a problem. But tools you start from within Bart PE can do any harm one can think of, from benign cosmetic to destroy everything. To loose ntldr, hal.dll etc you must have launched something from the

While rebooting, for a clean installation i get every time the message: Missing ntldr. press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to reboot. Boot priority is set to DVD drive. But still same answer. FDISK would NEVER tell you that ntldr is missing! FDISK knows nothing about the existence of ntldr (the NT loader) - or of WinNT/2K/XP. Alternative method???
I know it's able to boot from the DVD because I was able to get the MaxBlast software that came on CD with my Maxtor drive to run and partition the drive. Then it lead me to replace the MaxBlast CD with the OS disc and reboot. After rebooting, all I get is "NTLDR is missing, press CRTL-ALT-DELETE" Confused.

BIOS Checksum error. 9x133, 1.650v, 3.60 i/o = same NTLDR missing problem. 9x133, 1.675v, i/o @ default = hangs at "verifying DMI Pool" stage in boot 9x100 + 20mhz FSB, default voltage & i/o = posts @ 2046 ghz. Here is whats happening: Now that XP is installed it will not boot without the setup DVD in the drive. If I try to boot with DVD ROM drive empty I get 'NTLDR is missing'. If I place the setup disk back in the drive and boot I get the 'Press any key to boot from CD.......' and I do not trigger a CD boot.

I installed easyBCD and change the MBR settings, but when restarted my Laptop, I come up with this error: NTLDR is missing, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart.
